They’d shared a few bottles of wine, and their conversation was quickly progressing to something akin to the banter of a teenage slumber party. She pursed her lips, thinking for a moment, and then stood with her back to him, lifting her shirt to show off the tattoo of an Ouroboros at the base of her spine. He traced the snake with the tip of his finger. No matter how many times he’d seen her in various stages of undress, it still sent the same thrill through his being that it had in that motel on their first case. "What about you?" She queried, resuming her place on the couch beside him. He got up, left the room briefly, and returned, holding both hands behind his back. "This." He smiled, "Pick a hand, Scully." She pulled his left hand towards her, and he opened it, revealing a fairly simple, yet elegant, ring. "Marry me?" he asked, holding onto both of her hands. "Mulder, I-" she started, shocked. "Yes." She smiled. He leaned in and kissed her gently. She pulled back slightly and asked, "So, what if I’d picked the other hand?" "Keychain." He said, dropping a particularly obnoxious, neon green alien head into her lap.
